Victory Day a Special Day in Bangladesh, is celebrated throughout the world. In Bangladesh, special celebration is held every year on December 16. This was observed in Bangladesh as a national day and was formally proclaimed a holiday in a circulary published on 22 January 1972. Following a 9-month combat on 16 December 1971, roughly 91,634 Pakistani Army representatives officially handed over to Bangladesh and India joint troops at Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka. As a consequence, Bangladesh came into being as a separate, autonomous and sovereign state. The day also takes place in India as the day of victory.


This day is observed with proper solemnity and joy every year in Bangladesh. The day ended with 31 rounds of artillery fire on the morning of 16 December. The combined parade at the National Parade Square took together veterans of both the Army of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Navy and the Air Force of Bangladesh.The president or prime minister of the nation welcomed the parade. Many residents joined out to attend the parade.


The National memorial in Savar, Dhaka was held in homage of the people known to have been killed in the Bangladesh war of liberation, from every walk of life, including the President, Prime Minister, leader of the opposition, numerous social and cultural organisations.
