Purdue's campus is situated in West Lafayette's tiny village, adjacent to the west side of the Wabash River, on which Lafayette 's larger village lies. State Street, at the same time as State Road 26, divides the campus' northern and southern parts. Academic buildings are mostly concentrated on the eastern and southern parts of campus, with residence halls and intramural fields to the west, and athletic facilities to the north. The Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation (CityBus) operates eight campus loop bus routes where students, faculty , and staff can ride Purdue Identification free of charge.

South Campus

Purdue 's agricultural, fine arts, life sciences, and veterinary buildings are located in the area south of State Street. The Krannert School of Management, Horticulture Gardens, Discovery Park, Lyles Porter Hall and Purdue Airport are also located in this area. The Krannert School of management for both undergraduate and graduate degree programs has been ranked nationally and globally. Krannert and Rawls Hall provide state-of-the-art learning facilities to most on-campus business classes. Rawls Hall was built in 2006 with the help of Jerry S. Rawls' $10-million gift, the largest in the history of the management school.

Between the College of Health and Human Sciences and the School of Medicine, Lyles Porter Hall houses interdisciplinary health care services and classroom rooms. Collectively, in this state-of-the-art interdisciplinary healthcare facility, students and clinical faculty in nursing, health and kinesiology, nutritional sciences, psychological sciences, and speech , language, and hearing sciences see approximately 3,000 patients a year.

West Campus

The western portion of the campus consists of lodging, dining and recreation facilities for students. Students can play club and intramural sports at the Córdova Recreational Sports Centre, the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center (named former Purdue Men's Swimming & Diving Captain and longtime Vice President & Athletics Director), and intramural playgrounds in this area. Built in 1957, the Córdova Recreational Sports Center is the first nation-wide building created solely to serve recreational needs of university students. It was initially named the "Co-recreational Gymnasium" as a substitute for the traditionally different women's and men's gymnasia.
